Mission

The Physical Education Program has a mission of a physically educated world where lifelong learning and physical activity are practiced by all. Our students are prepared to make lasting contributions to their profession, communities and society.

Vision

To develop and inculcate strong personnel in the field of Physical Education and Sport.

Aims and Objectives

The aim of our department is to promote activities in the field of Sports and Games and also to provide a systematic and scientific training for the students.

To motivate the students in all the game, maintain proper discipline among students and to identify the skills of students and train them in the regular participations of the inter college meet conducted by University of Gour Banga, DPI Meets and Inter University tournaments.

Play Field Facilities

The Department offers good facilities for the following games: Track and Field, Football, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Tenis.

Student Achievement during the Session- 2016-2017 :

• First Prize Winner in District Sports Meet
1. Tanushree Barman stood first in – Shot Put, Discuss and Javlin
2. Sibani Hasda stood first in – 1500 and 800 Mtr Run, Long Jump
3. Mamoni Linda stood First in – 400 and 800m Long Distance Running
4. Chami Kisku – Javlin

• State Level Meet :
1. Shibani Hasda got first prize in – 400, 800 and 1200 mtr long Distance Running
2. Mamoni Linda got first prize in – Long Jump

• Kabaddi Team of the college won the 2^nd Prize in the District competition organized by Police Dept.

• Rajib Gandhi Khel Award –
1. Anupama Roy won first prize in – High Jump
2. Mamoni Linda won forst prize in – 800 and 1500 mtr Long Distance Run.

SWOC analysis of the department and future plans :

Strength : In addition to the formal methods, the greatest strength of the department has been the teacher-student intimate relationship that has kept the department alive. The students are obedient to their learning and they are skilled in different games and sports.

Weakness : The lack of permanent faculty is the greatest problem for the Department. The socio-cultural background of the students, many of whom are first generation learners from poor and backward families, is a major drawback for the development of the department.

Opportunities : However, the learners are always made aware of the wide scope for their future life and profession.

Challenges : To make the College secure a better position in North Bengal as well as West Bengal among the General Degree Colleges, especially in the field of Games and Sports.

Future Plans :

• To make the play ground suitable for all kinds of sports events.
• To introduce infrastructure for indoor games and sports.
• To organise in larger number of Inter College Athletic Meets and Other Sports Tournaments in the College.
